An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) for a domestic property will contain information on your property’s energy use and carbon dioxide emissions. It will also include an, recommendation report detailing ways on how to further reduce energy costs, use and carbon dioxide emissions.
If thinking of putting your property on the market to sell, an EPC is required immediately. As a landlord wanting to let your property you will also require an EPC prior to fully marketing your property. The report compares the current energy efficiency and carbon dioxide emissions with potential figures that your home could achieve. Potential figures are calculated by estimating what the energy efficiency and carbon dioxide emissions would be if energy saving means were to be put into place.
The rating measures the energy and carbon emission efficiency of your property, using a grade ranging from “A” down to “G”. An “A” rating is the most efficient , while “G” is the least efficient. All homes are measured using the same configurations, which enables you to compare the energy of different properties.
